Online Access Room 10 (300) (Online) Rapid Evaluation of Fatigue Limit Based on Temperature Variation Under Cyclic Loading Prof. Hirotsugu Inoue Biography Abstract
Hirotsugu Inoue is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Institute of Science Tokyo - Science Tokyo (renamed from Tokyo Institute of Technology - Tokyo Tech in October 2024). He received his BEng (1985), MEng (1987) and DEng (1993) degrees in mechanical engineering from Tokyo Tech. He worked as research associate and associate professor before being promoted to the current position in 2010. He stayed at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, UK and École Polytechnique, France as a visiting researcher in 1998. Now he serves as dean of School of Engineering, Science Tokyo. He was the head of Materials and Mechanics Division of JSME in FY2016 and now serves as a member of executive board of JSME. His area of expertise includes inverse analysis for impact force reconstruction and principal stress separation, wavelet analysis of elastic waves, ultrasonic and thermographic non-destructive testing, temperature evolution during cyclic loading of metals and rubbers.

Online Access Room 10 (300) (Online) Additive Manufacturing of Multiple Material and Graded Components Using Laser Powder Bed Fusion Prof. Li Lin Biography Abstract Professor Lin Li, Director of Research Centre for Laser Extreme Manufacturing, Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Science, obtained a PhD degree in Laser Engineering from Imperial College and has been working as a lecturer, reader and chair professor and Director of Laser Processing Research Centre at University of Manchester for more than 25 years. He has over 500 publications in peer reviewed journals related to laser processing and photonic engineering. He received the Sir Frank Whittle Medal from the Royal Academy of Engineering for his achievements in engineering innovations in manufacturing, the Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award for laser nano-fabrication and nano-imaging, Arthur L. Schawlow award from Laser Institute of America for advancing the science, technology and applications of laser-based manufacturing and Donald Julius Groen Prize from Institution of Mechanical Engineers for outstanding contributions in laser based additive manufacturing. Professor Li is an elected Fellow of Royal Academy of Engineering, and has served as President of Laser Institute of America, President of Association of Laser Users (AILU) and President of International Academy of Photonics and Laser Engineering.

Online Access Room 10 (300) Progress on Development of Pulverized Biomass Combustor Prof. Jarruwat Charoensuk Biography Abstract Jarruwat Charoensuk is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL). He earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree with second-class honors in 1991 from KMITL and completed his Diploma and Ph.D. in combustion at Imperial College, University of London in 1996. He embarked on his academic career as a lecturer at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, KMITL, in 1996 and progressed to the role of assistant professor in 1999. In 2006, he advanced to the position of associate professor and attained the rank of professor in 2019. Throughout his academic journey, he also took on various administrative roles, serving as the assistant dean of the graduate school from 1998 to 2003, dean of the graduate school from 2004 to 2007, and head of the department from 2012 to 2013.
Professor Charoensuk's research expertise lies in the fields of combustion and computational fluid dynamics, specifically for industrial boilers. He has a rich teaching background, having delivered courses in Engineering Computation, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Mechanics of Machinery, Power Plant, Heat Transfer, Combustion Theory, and Energy Management. Beyond his academic and teaching endeavors, Professor Charoensuk actively contributes to professional organizations. He currently serves as the chairman of the Sub-committee of the Energy engineering Section under the Mechanical Engineering Committee at the Engineering Institute of Thailand under the King's patronage, and currently the president of the Thai Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Online Access Room 10 (300) Assessment of Heat Transfer Performance in a Channel Equipped with Tapered Baffles Prof. Smith Eiamsa-ard Biography Abstract Smith Eiamsa-ard is a mechanical engineering professor at Mahanakorn University of Technology (MUT). He was born in SakonNakhon province and studied high school at Sakolrajwittayanukul School in SakonNakhon. He continued his high school education at Maize High School in Wichita, Kansas, USA. He completed a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering at MUT. He has been working at MUT since 1996. He earned his M.Eng. and D.Eng. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), and his Ph.D. degree in System Engineering from Mie University. He is mainly interested in thermal and fluid engineering, with a focus on heat transfer enhancement and computational fluid dynamics. He currently researches utilizing swirling flow in various applications such as heat exchangers, solar air heaters, vortex tubes, and vortex combustors.

Online Access Room 9 (301B) (Online) Nanojoining for Device Integration Prof. Liu Lei Biography Abstract Liu Lei is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Tsinghua University. Dr. Liu’s research mainly focuses on nanojoining and innovative devices integration. Since jointed Tsinghua University in 2013, he has published 62 SCI indexed papers and 7 EI indexed papers as first or second or corresponding author, including internationally reputable journals such as Advanced Materials, Advanced Function Materials, Nano Energy etc. The citations of papers published after joined Tsinghua University are over 1500 times without self-citations and the H-Index is 26 in web of science. His whole professional career had 5000 citations and 41 H-index in google scholar. He led projects with more than 10 million RMB as PI or Co-PI, did 1 keynote and 4 invited talk.

Online Access Room 9 (301B) Ethanol Application in Diesel Engines Prof. Sakda Thongchai Biography Abstract Assistant Professor Dr. Sakda Thongchai is a dynamic scholar who earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical and Automotive Engineering from the prestigious University of Ulsan in the Republic of Korea. He also holds a Master’s degree in Automotive Engineering, an M.B.A. in Agribusiness and Food Industry Management, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Thailand. Passionate about shaping the future of automotive innovation, his research focuses on cutting-edge areas such as spray visualization, alternative and renewable fuels, internal combustion engines, and the exciting transition to electric vehicle (EV) conversion. Currently, Dr. Sakda serves as a lecturer and the program chair of the Automotive Engineering (International) Program at the Faculty of Engineering at Sriracha, Kasetsart University Sriracha Campus, Thailand.

Online Access Room 10 (300) (Online) Mechanical Characterization of Single and Group of Cells From Static to Dynamic Conditions Prof. Toshiro Ohashi Biography Abstract Prof. Toshiro Ohashi has been Full Professor of Faculty of Engineering since 2009 and Director of Europe Office in Helsinki since 2021 at Hokkaido University, Japan. He spent one-year at Queen Mary University of London, UK from 2004 to 2005 and eight-months at Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden in 2008 as Academic Fellow. He was also appointed as Visiting Professor at Kyushu University, Japan in 2010 and as Visiting Professor at Kyoto University, Japan from 2012 to 2013. His research interests involve cell/tissue biomechanics, mechanical characterization of soft tissues in health and disease and bio-MEMS towards high throughput single cell analysis. He has published more than 100 scientific journal papers and has been honored with 14 national and international awards. His editorial appointments include emeritus Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Biorheology, Associate Editor of Journal of Biomechanical Science and Engineering and Editorial Board Member of Bio-Medical Materials and Engineering. He has been President of Japan Society of Biorheology since 2023, Chair of Hokkaido Branch of Japanese Society for Medical and Biological Engineering since 2021, Executive Board Member of Asian-Pacific Association for Biomechanics since 2010, Secretary of World Council of Biomechanics since 2022 and Member of Engineering Academy of Japan since 2020.

Online Access Room 10 (300) (Online) Bioinspired Soft Robots for High Power Density and Multifunctional Applications Prof. Liu Chunbao Biography Abstract Chunbao Liu received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees majored in mechanical design and theory from the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Jilin University, Changchun, China, in 2006 and 2009, respectively. He is currently a Professor with the School of Mechanical Science and Aerospace Engineering, Jilin University. He is the associate director of the Science and Technology Department and the associate dean of the Weihai Bionic Research Institute of Jilin University. He has been the PI and Co-I of more than 20 research projects funded by NSCF, etc. He has more than 80 peer-reviewed publications, of which representative researches include Chem. Eng. J. 472(2023) 144700, IEEE-ASME T. Mech. 2024, IEEE Robot. Autom. Let. 8(2023) 5886-5893, IEEE T. Neur. Sys. Reh. 21(2023) 1394-1404, iScience 24(2021) 144700. His research interests include integrated joints for high-performance robots, soft actuator and bionic robotics, and specialized robots for industrial applications. He has won 5 the provincial science and technology awards as the first co-author, and was honored as the most outstanding science and technology worker in Jilin Province.
